A live show, a couple of friends, a community? 

Just what Is Tinkering With Tech?

I can hear one of my favorite TV characters Sophia, say…”Picture it! Sicily, 1928…”

The answer to the question doesn't start in Sicily and it doesn’t go back to 1928 but if you'll indulge me in a little history of our Tinkering Community, I think Sophia would agree, it is a story worth reading.

This story begins in 2013 on the internet with rapid changes and a need to get in front of the technology just as quickly as it was being released. Michael, an early adopter of all things Google, was very interested in learning and helping others learn just about everything that involved video streaming technology and community based forums. Heather, a stay at home mom who wanted to get online and create a fun place for others to get crafty, was very technology challenged but had a strong determination to learn. The two became friends in a paid for Google Plus group where they learned and helped others learn all about a little thing called Hangouts On Air.

It was in this group that Michael and Heather met many many people they continue to call friend - you know who you are! Like all things do, this group had to come to an end. The leader - Ronnie Bincer - suggested to Michael and Heather that they continue to work together. They made a decision to continue the process of helping folks utilize technology by forming their own group and weekly live show.

And it was called the H & M Show!

In 2017 they started a weekly show of their own, something they both had wanted to do for years and never quite had the opportunity to do and it was called The H & M Show. This show was designed to be entertaining and helpful. The idea was that technology didn’t need to be stuffy or difficult to understand and that no matter what, the two would have fun sharing what they knew.

The show was a gateway for a paid community where workshops would be taught and one on one help could be given to those willing to pay. It was clear to Michael and Heather that price could keep some folks from joining and so they vowed to keep it affordable. It has never been about making a million dollars doing this, they just want to be able to afford getting the equipment needed to help people and produce informative shows and videos.

It Was Time for A Change!

After about a year of doing the shows and the community, Michael wanted to make a slight change. He wanted the show’s title to better represent the spirit of the show and what goes on in the backstage of the community. What became clear in the meetings with the members of the community is that there was a lot more “tinkering” going on each day. Michael came up with the idea of Tinkering With Tech and that was it!

Tinkering says it all!

It’s the best representation of what goes on each Wednesday at 5 PM Eastern, both on the show or in the backstage pass, and the workshops and the daily tips as well. 

It is what we do in the community, someone says “Hey how can I get this to do that?” and we all tinker in one way or another to find a solution or help with the answers. It’s a community thing.

So, what is Tinkering With Tech? It is Michael and Heather. It is a weekly live show. It is a group of friends who want to learn and love to TINKER WITH TECH!

What is all the fuss about?

Here it is - the beginning of 2022 and Michael and Heather are still in this for the same reasons - TO HELP PEOPLE!

• The community is a wonderful place to find out about a variety of topics.
• Suggestions are always welcome for Live Show subjects and for workshops.
• The workshops are very interactive and designed to get every attendee the opportunity to solve their issues and learn.
• Michael does a daily tip every week day other than Wednesday with currently over 600 in the archives and ready for members to view 24/7!
• Heather & Michael host the show Wednesdays for everyone to watch.
• Heather's favorite perk of membership is the back stage pass after each weekly show. It is where the guest interacts with the members, or the real questions get answered.
• Michael enjoys the daily tips as he gets to share something quick and then hangs out after to fix whatever might be needing fixed for those who ask.
