Hey Pixlr, what's new?
What program do you use to edit & create digital images?
Over the years, Heather has used a number of programs to produce digital images and in the last two years has been using only one program for her online work and social media content. Michael has pretty much used the same tool, Pixlr, for all these years. It is his favorite editing and creation tool for images, hands down.
We are both curious to learn what you used and what you currently use for YouTube thumbnails, Instagram posts, .gif creations or blog post images.
There are so many tools available and they range in ease of use as well as price and both of those facts are why we chose to use Pixlr. We can’t wait to tell you about Pixlr and what new things they have to offer.
Pixlr is a great web based and free option, but there’s more!
When you arrive at the Pixlr website, you see a few options. The route you choose is based on your level of use. You don’t need to download anything, but you can if you are ever without internet that could be handy.
If you are someone who prefers to be handed a template and just plug in or switch out your preferences such as images or colors, (similar to a Canva type program) then choose the Pixlr X option - the way I remember it is X is for Xtra Simple!
If you prefer a bit more control in the process of design and detail, understand how something like Photoshop works, then the option for you is Pixlr E option - my easy memory trick is E is for Editor (Advanced)
If you just want to do the magical background remover trick, they have a simple app just for that one trick! Click, add photo, remove background and download image. Done!
If you want to enhance this very powerful free tool, they offer a paid version that gives you access to thousands of overlays, icons, stickers, decorative texts, assets and templates. You also have the ability to work in super high image resolution and something I found the most useful - no advertisements.
During the show we will be telling you about a special you can take advantage of if you decide Pixlr is the right tool for you. You don't want to miss this!
Michael & Heather will demonstrate two of their favorite features
During the live show, you will be shown two personal favorite features within Pixlr that Michael and Heather have really found the most useful or fun. Background removal and Animation! There will be much discussion and demonstration so you don’t want to miss this episode.

Thanks Heather. I use Power Point to create Images. I know the program very well and most people forget that it comes with a huge repository of images that are all licensed for use in PP.
ReplyDeleteI have tried Canva but not interested in the learning curve and really need the paid version for what I want. I already own Power Point and have mastered the software. Will look at Pixlr and look forward to the show tomorrow. Keep up the great work with this Blog.
Looking forward to Tomorrow's Pixlr show!
ReplyDeleteHi Heather. Thanks for sharing the info about Pixlr! I converted from Photoshop to Canva. They have so many features and I find it much easier to use.
